Biographical OutlineDavid Wright Sr.
Appointed to the Board of Directors of The Heinlein Society 06/26/2006.BACKGROUND: A native of Atlanta, Georgia, David and his family have lived in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Arizona, and are now back living in Northwest Georgia. He is married to the former Jennelou Earnhardt and has two sons. David Jr, works for the Library at the University of Georgia and is currently working on his Master's in Library Science. John, is Assistant Professor of Theater & Communication Arts and Director of the University Theater at the University of Wisconsin - Manitowoc. John received his Ph.D. from the Department of Drama at Louisiana State University, October 17, 2006 David Sr. holds a B.A. in German from The University of The South, an M.A. in Linguistics from Indiana University and an M.S. in Computer Science from The Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a graduate of the Russian Program of the Defense Language Institute,(formerly The Army Language School), in Monterey, California and taught Russian at Georgia State University after his Army service and before entering graduate school. He worked as a programmer/systems analyst for several corporations before running his own computer service for several years. He has been working as Programmer/Analyst for the Health Department of the State of Georgia and retired July 1, 2006 with 21 years of service. He has published two articles in The Heinlein Journal, (Vols.11 & 12), entitled "Time Enough for Everything: A Look at Time Travel in Science Fiction", and "Rebutting Joseph T. Major's View of General Semantics in Heinlein's Children" (Vol 19), and has completed a book dealing with the influences of Alfred Korzybski and General Semantics in the works of Heinlein.
He enjoys listening to Broadway Musicals and Classical Guitar, and is a great fan of British TV comedy.
He was appointed to the board of directors in June 2006 to fill one of the positions in the newly expanded board. OTHER ACTIVITIES: He is currently serving as Webmaster for the Heinlein Society Website. David's Introduction to Heinlein..... |
